Last season was quite a challenge for the UTEP basketball team to say the least. The squad, which predominantly consisted of freshmen, finished the season under .500 with a record of 15-17. UTEP made it to the Quarterfinal round of the C-USA Tournament before losing to Memphis.

On Wednesday night, December 28th, the UTEP Miners men's basketball team hosted the Colorado State Rams in the first game of the Bank of the West Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational. Gabriel McCulley led the Miners with 13 points but the Rams won the game 56-53
UTEP and Colorado State squared off at the Sun Bowl on Saturday night for homecoming. The Miners prevailed 31-17 to win their 2nd consecutive game, and go above .500 with a record of 4-3 on the season
UTEP met up with old WAC rival Colorado State Saturday night at the Sun Bowl. The game was homecoming for the Miners and 31,000 fans were entertained to a 31-17 UTEP win.
