City of El Paso Offering Free Flu Shots This Week

The City of El Paso is offering free flu shots this week at various locations across the city. The vaccinations will be conducted drive-thru style in order to minimize contact as there is no need to get out of your car.

With flu season underway, local leaders are urging El Pasoans to get vaccinated and help reduce the number of possible flu cases which in turn will help prevent our already overburdened hospitals and medical professionals from being overrun with respiratory cases on top of the increased hospitalizations we're seeing due to the lingering coronavirus pandemic that is still very much an issue in our community.

A flu vaccination can reduce the risk of serious outcomes like hospitalizations and death, especially among young children, pregnant women, older adults, and people with certain chronic medical conditions like asthma, diabetes, and heart disease. Those are the groups and demographics at increased risk of serious flu-related complications, according to the literature found at the city-sponsored website BePowerflu.

Free flu shots are available to anyone older than 6 months of age. No appointments are needed and no insurance is required from anyone. All one has to do is, prior to showing up at the location most convenient to you, print and fill out a patient questionnaire found at THIS LINK and take it with you.

If you don't have access to a printer, the city suggests you let staff know and they will provide you with a questionnaire to fill out on-site.

No-cost flu shots will be available at the following sites on the specific dates and times listed below. And please remember to mask up.

• October 13, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., Fabens ISD, 601 NE G Ave.
• October 15, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., San Elizario ISD, 200 N. Herring Rd.
• October 16, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Fabens ISD, 601 NE G Ave.
