Black Friday is a day when many people head out to stores to get some good deals on tons of items, but once all of that is over why not head out to enjoy an El Paso tradition that will be debuting some new and exciting things!

You might remember the news that the iconic Fred Loya Light Show would be moving to Ascarate Park this year. The partnership between Fred Loya and El Paso County Parks & Recreation is something new to the community and something city officials hope to continue.

The 2022 Holiday Lights on the Lake Light Show will kick off with a special “flipping of the switch” ceremony beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday, November 25th at Ascarate Park which is located at 6900 Delta Drive. Santa will be making a special appearance at this kick-off event to assist with the flipping of the switch.

Families are invited to join this festive event that will feature local vendors, food trucks, spectacular light shows, and even a few special holiday guests every weekend.

The Holiday Lights on the Lake is a free event and will be open to the public every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.

The light show will run from November 25th through December 25th, however, the holiday light display will be lit from November 26th through January 6th for locals to walk through the park to enjoy it with family and friends and to snap photos when they want to. Those hours are from 5 p.m. - 9:45 p.m.

El Paso County officials are hopeful that the new partnership between the City and Fred Loya will excite the community as they bring two El Paso traditions together and hopefully continue this tradition for years to come.
