July 9, 2012 When Mayor John Cook spoke publicly to David Crowder from El Paso Inc. about the return of affiliated baseball in El Paso, his comments were not what many expected. Mayor Cook implied that if the new proposed downtown ballpark's Hotel Occupancy Tax funding does not get passed in November, he would veto the entire project.

June 17, 2012 It was the perfect night for a championship fight at the Sun Bowl. The winds were relatively calm, and the extreme heat of the day had passed. The crowd of 13,467 walked away quite pleased as Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. defeated Andy Lee with a 7th round TKO to retain his WBC Middleweight championship.
