El Paso Mayor John Cook Reconsidering His Stance On Triple A Baseball

When Mayor John Cook spoke publicly to David Crowder from El Paso Inc. about the return of affiliated baseball in El Paso, his comments were not what many expected. Mayor Cook implied that if the new proposed downtown ballpark’s Hotel Occupancy Tax funding does not get passed in November, he would veto the entire project.
Now, we are hearing that the Mayor is planning to issue a statement later today retracting his comments to El Paso Inc. Apparently, he had a change of heart and will not veto the downtown ballpark if the HOT funding gets rejected by the voters. Mayor Cook will join Sportstalk at 5pm today to discuss the issue with us.
