The Heat is On: Will El Paso Get Its First Triple Digit Day This Week?
Dear Summer, I’M NOT READY!!!!!!!!!
So, we’re still in the middle of Spring season but geez louise it already feels like Summer is here even though we're more than a month away from the official start of the Summer season.
Tuesday, June 21st is the first official day of the Summer season but the borderland will get a sneak peek of that hot weather this week and weekend.
*INSERT DRAMATIC MUSIC HERE*
But First, A Cold Front:
Yes, you read that correctly. The borderland is expecting a cold front, but no… Winter is NOT coming. This cold front will just be bringing those pesky winds and dropping our afternoon highs from the upper 90s to the lower 90s so yes, that is considered a cold front in weather terms so don’t come for me!
OK, Now let’s talk about the heat:
Thursday through Saturday we can expect sunny skies, breezy winds, and afternoon highs in the mid-90s, and then… BAM triple-digit heat will sneak in like that ex that you can’t escape! (I should know.)
Sunday afternoon is expected to be a hot afternoon with the high expected to hit 100 degrees!
Winds will remain breezy and we can expect sunny skies to accompany these triple-digit temperatures. That triple-digit heat is expected to linger into Monday.
Is this the earliest we’ve seen triple-digit temps?
The answer to that question is simple. No. Although we do usually expect triple digits to only appear during the summer season, seeing triple-digit temperatures in May isn’t something new.
According to weather.gov, the earliest occurrence of a 100-degree day was back on May 7th of 2022.
So, although we may not be ready for the heat (Me. I’m not ready) we gotta prepare regardless because that Texas heat is coming in…. Hot. Stay hydrated my friends.
