Scheduled Road Construction And Closures For El Paso This Week

While the city is ecstatic the Border West Expressway is finally open, there is still quite a lot of construction happening on El Paso Roads. We've finally seen some of the major road projects coming to a close, and the improvements are making the commutes home better and better! Still, there are some projects that are just getting started or are getting the finishing touches. To make sure you're not stuck sitting in traffic due to construction on your commute, you've come to the right place. To find out what major freeway and road closures are happening this week, check out the list below.

I-10 Connect Project Closures

Mon., Jan. 6, & Tues., Jan. 7, 2020 (9 p.m. - 5 am. NIGHTLY)

• I-10 will be closed to all traffic at US 54.
• Ramp C which connects northbound US 54 to eastbound I-10 will be closed to all traffic.
• Ramp L which connects Gateway Boulevard West to westbound I-10 at Raynolds Street will be closed to all traffic.
• DETOUR: Eastbound and westbound traffic on I-10 will take Exit 22B (US 54/Alamogordo/Juárez/Fort Bliss), travel north on US 54 to Exit 22B (Pershing Drive), use the Pershing Turnaround, enter southbound US 54 and follow signs to eastbound I-10, westbound I-10 or Juárez.

Mon., Jan. 6, through Thurs., Jan. 9, 2020 (9 p.m. - 5 am. NIGHTLY)

• SH 20 (Alameda Avenue) will be closed to all traffic at US 54.
• DETOURS: Eastbound traffic will turn left on Loop 478 (Copia Street), right on Gateway Boulevard East, and right on Raynolds street. Westbound traffic will use westbound US 62 (Paisano Drive) and turn right on Loop 478 (Copia Street).
• NOTE: Alameda will remain open to local traffic only except for the area immediately under US 54.
• Crews will be placing columns for a new direct connector ramp.

West Area Project Closures

Culvert Cleaning

Mon., Dec. 23 & Fri., Dec. 27 (9 a.m. - 4 p.m.)

• Desert North Boulevard between Mesa and Thorn shoulder closure.
• Desert South Boulevard between Thorn and Mesa shoulder closure.

Mon., Dec. 30 & Tues., Dec. 31, & Thurs., Jan. 2 & Fri., Jan. 3, 2020 (9 a.m. - 4 p.m.)

• Desert North Boulevard between Mesa and Thorn shoulder closure.
• Desert South Boulevard between Thorn and Mesa shoulder closure.

Miscellaneous Concrete

Mon., Dec. 30 & Tues., Dec. 31, & Thurs., Jan. 2 and Fri., Jan. 3, 2020 (9 a.m. - 4 p.m.)

• I-10 Westbound Airway on ramp closure.
• I-10 Westbound Geronimo exit ramp closure.
• I-10 Westbound between Airway and Geronimo right lane closure.
• Left lane closed on Gateway Boulevard South at Pershing.
• Right lane closed on Pershing at Gateway Boulevard South.

I-10 Ramp Improvements - Phase 2

Mon., Jan. 6 - Fri., Jan. 10, 2020 (9 a.m. - 4 p.m.)

• Airway and Hawkins turnarounds will be closed in both directions.

Tues., Jan. 7 (9 a.m. - 4 p.m.)

• Closing right two lanes on Airway Southbound at Gateway Boulevard West.
• Two lanes will remain closed for a month for waterline work.

Tues., Jan. 7 - Fri., Jan. 10 (9 a.m. - 4 p.m.)

• Right lane, Northbound and Southbound will be closed at Hawkins underpass.

Wed., Jan. 8 - Fri., Jan. 10 (9 a.m. - 4 p.m.)

• Closing right two lanes on Gateway Boulevard West before Hawkins intersection.

Guardrail Repair Project

Mon., Dec. 23 (9 a.m. - 4 p.m.)

• US-54 Northbound from Hondo Pass to Sun Valley right lane closure with complete ramp closure at Sun Valley exit.
• Loop 375 Eastbound from Fonseca to Midway right lane closure.

Fri., Dec. 27 (9 a.m. - 4 p.m.)

• I-10 Westbound from Porfirio Diaz to Executive right lane closure with complete on ramp closure at Schuster.

East Area Project Closures

Median Cable Barrier Project

Mon., Jan. 06 - Fri., Jan. 10 (7 a.m. - 5 p.m.)

• US/62-180 eastbound and westbound left shoulder work between Flagger Street and Hueco Tanks Road
