The coronavirus pandemic has created some interesting challenges for people and various industries to try and navigate. One of those industries that have been severely affected is animal rescue. any foster-based rescue (like the El Paso Pug Rescue I work with) are having to temporarily halt adoptions for the health and safety of their volunteers. Many physical animal rescue locations have remained closed since the state-wide shutdown to help fight the rising case numbers of COVID-19 in the city. You can find out more about their COVID-19 response a the shelter website. Even though the doors are closed, animals are still coming in and the shelter needs to try and get adoptable dogs and cats into foster homes or their forever homes.

This weekend, El Paso Animal Services will be hosting their free virtual adoption event "Wag n Roll" this Friday. From 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Animal Services will have their virtual Adopt-a-thon through a Facebook live stream. Log on the Animal Services Facebook Page and meet available dogs, cats, and more that you can adopt from the comfort of your own home. Even if you've just considered looking at a new animal, this is a great no-risk way to see some cute animals that are right down the street and looking for a home. For more information about the adoption process, please call El Paso Animal Services at (915) 212-8705 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. or email EPASAdoptions@elpasotexas.gov. For more information on the more temporary option of fostering an animal through El Paso Animal Services, please call (915) 212-8732 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. or email EPASfoster@elpasotexas.gov. Find out more information about this event at the Facebook Event Page and you can view the live stream here.
