If you've never done yoga an event this weekend is the perfect place to try it out and support a great cause all at the same time. You'll be doing yourself and your community a lot of good at the All Bodies Yoga In The Park event. The event is being hosted by Congresswoman Veronica Escobar and her summer fellowship program.

You don't have to have a killer yoga body to have fun at the All Bodies Yoga even. Everyone is welcome to take part in the low-intensity session. I occasionally do yoga and this sounds like something even I can do. It's also a great way to enjoy Memorial Park, one of the most beautiful greenspaces in El Paso. If you're only used to doing yoga in a stuffy studio, I promise you, doing sun salutations in the park will put you in a whole different level of namaste. I really sound like I know this stuff don't I?

In addition to getting yourself zenned out, you'll be supporting the Sun City Pride Scholarship Fund that helps give thousands of dollars in scholarships to local LGBTQ+ youth each year. All Bodies Yoga is free but a donation of $5 or more would help out the SCPS fund. LGBTQ students need a safe space in the El Paso community and the SCPS fund helps provide that space. There are so many recent state bills that have negatively affected transgender people’s access to areas such as personal safety, sports, and medical care that it is vital that their needs are discussed and addressed.

If you plan on attending you'll need to bring a yoga mat or towel, and water to stay hydrated. The event is this Saturday, July 17 from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Park. Just look for the incredibly relaxed group of people on Copper Street by the trees. Memorial Park is located at 1701 N. Copia. Zen out and help out your community this weekend.
