A pair of former Americas High School baseball could be getting the call of a lifetime as early as tonight with the MLB Draft getting underway this week.
The Franklin Cougars knew that in order to have any chance at winning District 1-5A that they had to defeat Americas. The Cougars played a superior game as they pulled away in the final 6 minutes to defeat Americas 56-42.

Burges survived a scare from a very game Jefferson squad to remain undefeated. Franklin looks like the class of 1-5A after their 38-17 win over Montwood. Horizon turned some heads with a 17-0 home shutout over Canutillo.
Coronado and Franklin battle every year for west side supremacy. With all due respect to the up and coming Americas Trailblazers, the east side goes through Montwood and El Dorado.........for now. Separated by less than four miles, this game has become a neighborhood rivalry.

The game Friday night between Americas and Coronado has two different storylines, set up by two different off-season situations.
