Over the last six weeks, there has been little news coming out of the UTEP men's basketball program. However, Miners fans received a big boost for the 2020-21 season when they learned this morning that one of their biggest additions is now immediately eligible.

Bieniemy fills a void that head coach Rodney Terry has lacked over his first two season with his program. UTEP now gets their starting point guard for the next two years, and they add a veteran player who has always started since he arrived on the University of Oklahoma campus.

"We’re excited about the opportunity that JB (Jamal Bieniemy) gets a chance to compete this year," UTEP Head Coach Rodney Terry said in he official release. "He’s a guy who brings a wealth of experience from playing at a very high level in the Big XII as a two-year starter at Oklahoma."

Head coach Rodney Terry brought in three Division 1 transfers over the summer, and Bieniemy was the first of the group to be granted a waiver by the NCAA. Junior Guard Christian Agnew and redshirt sophomore forward Kristian Sjolund are both awaiting word on their eligibility.
