Earlier this year, states around the country began relaxing their COVID restrictions and many concerts, events, and festivals were planned for later this year. Now, due to the Delta variant causing cases in the country to climb, some states are adding new restrictions to try and keep cases from continuing to climb and overrun local hospitals.

One of those events that were announced earlier in the year was the White Sands Balloon and Music Festival in Alamogordo, New Mexico. The Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce announced the 2020 event was canceled due to the pandemic but the 2021 festival was back on. Set to take place September 10th and September 11th at Ed Brabson Park, the family-friendly event brought together arts and crafts, food, drinks, vendors, and more.

Unfortunately, the Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce has now announced this year's event has been canceled on their Facebook page:

"Due to COVID restrictions recently implemented by the State of New Mexico, the Alamogordo Center of Commerce believed it impossible to hold a successful event and fully comply with the Governor’s COVID mandates.....We will regroup and immediately begin preparations for the next White Sands Balloon and Music Fest that will be held on the third weekend in September 2022."

Tickets were sound through the Eventbrite website and organizers say they are refundable.
