Coming in August, Walmart will be transforming their parking lots into drive-in theaters. They made the announcement on their Twitter

According to Walmart, only about 160 Walmart's across the nation will be transformed into drive-in theaters. While movie titles haven't been announced by Walmart, there is rumor that they'll be showing something that everyone will love like "Space Jam" and "Jaws." Walmart's website does say to keep checking back for updates. August is still a couple of weeks away so I'm sure we'll get updates as the weeks go by.

If you'll remember, not too long ago I wrote about drive-in theaters thriving across Texas except in El Paso. Then, as if the universe heard my rant, a local entertainment group- C&G Entertainment, started "Sun City Carpool Cinema". It started out great, but unfortunately, because of the rising cases of COVID-19 in our city, C&G Entertainment had to halt their movie screenings.

The move to postpone the movie screenings in El Paso came after Governor Abbott announced a new executive order to help contain the spread of COVID-19 by pausing Texas' phased reopening's. In the order, bars were required to close effective at noon on Friday the 26th. The order also stated restaurants had to scale back to 50% capacity, restaurants were currently allowed to operate at 75% capacity. If you're wondering why Sun City Car Pool Cinema had to postpone, the order also says: Outdoor gatherings of 100 or more people must be approved by local governments, with certain exceptions. Governor Abbott also announced a face mask mandate that requires Texans to wear a face mask when out in public.

While we wait on news about this Walmart parking lot drive-in, this guy on Facebook wins best comment- I'm sure we could all agree with him!
