Celebrate #915Day By Taking a Look At These El Paso Inspired Photos

Today is September 15th, in the numeric form it’s 9-1-5 day and that is El Paso’s area code so it’s only right that every September 15th we celebrate the city of the 915!

Back in 2021 the City of El Paso officially proclaimed September 15th as 915 Day. A day where we celebrate this beautiful city most of us call home. It’s a day to be proud of the culture, beauty, and people from the 915.

915 Day also ironically lands on the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month which definitely resonated with our community’s culture.

The 915 in Photos:

El Paso photographer, Miguel Vigil, has been capturing photos of our city through his camera lens and all of these photos remind me of why I love the city of the 915 so much.

When you ask someone what iconic El Paso landmarks remind them of El Paso, most will say the Star on the Franklin mountains always reminds them that they’re home.

Then there’s the classic UTEP pick that stands right outside of the UTEP campus.

Driving past Mount Cristo Rey and seeing the cross on top of the mountain always reminds me that I'm home.

And of course, nothing says you're in El Paso more than seeing that Chico’s Tacos sign.

The sight of murals all across the 915 that encompass our culture can also be considered a sight that reminds a person that they’re home.

And sometimes we forget how lucky we are to have such beautiful mountains surrounding our city. I never realize how much I love our mountains until I travel out of town and look for the mountains and see none.

Once I see those beautiful Franklin mountains, I know I’m home. In the city of the 915.
