Two El Paso Women Owned Businesses Partner for Women’s Wellness Event To Honor Vanessa Guillen

Two El Paso women are keeping the memory of U.S Army soldier, Vanessa Guillen, alive with a women’s wellness event that will bring women in our community together all for a good cause.

Vanessa Guillen disappeared back in April of 2020 from Fort Hood, where she was stationed. Her story is one that made international headlines and one that has stuck with El Paso business owners Cynthia Chavira and Gabriela Flores.

“I've been staying in touch with Vanessa’s sister, Mayra, who continues to work in honor of her sister to bring awareness about sexual harassment in the military,” said Flores.

Flores teamed up with local business owner Cynthia Chavira to create an event that would benefit the ‘I Am Vanessa Guillen Foundation.’

Chavira is the owner of In Bloom. A locally owned business that offers homemade bath products and more.

Flores and Chavira will be hosting a women’s wellness event on July 24th that will offer different classes for women who attend.

Classes will include yoga, meditation, painting, and more. All of the proceeds from the event will go directly to the ‘I Am Vanessa Guillen’ Foundation.

“Their case still hasn't been closed and it is still under investigation, and because of that, Mayra and her family constantly have to be traveling back and forth to Washington and other places for either court or events dealing with sexual Harassment awareness,” said Flores. "Mayra is pushing and fighting to help current service members to avoid going through the same experience her sister did. These donations will help her with travel costs."

This event is not only a way to help raise funds for a good cause but it is also a way to remind women about the importance of taking care of both their physical and mental well-being.

• Sound Bath (Bowls) 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
• Yoga Class: 3 p.m. - 4 p.m.
• Facials & Mimosas: 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m
• Terracotta Pot Painting Class: 6 p.m. - 7 p.m.
