Personally, it really doesn’t feel like the Holidays until I hear that ringing bell outside of Walmart and see that famous Salvation Army Red Kettle.

Growing up, I always loved it when my parents would give me some cash to place inside of the Red Kettle and now I love it when I am able to give my son cash to place inside of the kettle.

Well, if you have ever wanted to ring that famous bell you are in luck!

El Paso’s Salvation Army is looking for bell ringer volunteers this holiday season to help them continue their yearly Red Kettle Campaign which is the oldest annual charitable fundraiser of its kind in the United States.

The Red Kettle Campaign helps the organization raise money for those who need it most in communities nationwide – providing toys for kids, coats for the homeless, food for the hungry and countless social service programs year-round.

The organization is looking to hire people to help with this campaign and they are also seeking volunteers who are in need of community service hours.

"This adds up to thousands of hours," said Human Resources Manager Rosa de la Rosa in a statement, "We need volunteers as well, but we don’t have enough people ready to volunteer."

Without enough support from the community, the Salvation Army is not able to raise funds needed to serve those in need. The yearly Christmas tradition continues to be essential to programs even past the holiday season.

The Red Kettle Campaign helps in raising funds for the non-profit’s year-round shelter and soup kitchen and other programs like rent assistance, food box distributions, and youth programs.

Last year, El Paso's Salvation Army served almost 216,000 meals and provided $326,130 in emergency financial assistance.

Red Kettles will be outside various El Paso storefronts receiving donations six days a week from now until December 24.
