Now that City Council approved the new downtown ballpark by a 6-2 vote, some people are wondering what's next? Later this week in Dallas, Mountain Star Sports Group will meet with Pacific Coast League owners to convince them that ElPaso should be the permanent home of the Tucson Padres. If the PCL says "yes" to Triple A baseball in El Paso, Minor League Baseball and Major League baseball must then approve the sale of the team. Once all three sign off on the transaction, the downtown ballpark will be underway.

As for the City Hall building, plans are to begin demolition next January and begin construction in March 2013. The ballpark will take 13 months to build and will open in time for first pitch in April 2014.
