Naming our downtown ballpark Southwest University Park is a good deal for the school and for the Chihuahua baseball franchise. Of course El Pasoans will likely call it "The Park." The full name is just too long. But Southwest University will get a lot of face time with all the fans who had no idea this small, locally owned school even existed...

The first seats were installed on Sunday in the Chihuahuas ballpark and a few lucky fans got to sit in them.

Baseball season will be here before you know it and the El Paso Chihuahuas will begin their inaugural season.  Their stadium will be completed by late April and fans need to know how to find the brand new home of their new favorite Triple A team.

Construction crews are working around the clock to complete the brand new multi million dollar downtown ballpark that will be the home of the El Paso Chihuahuas.

The foundation for the front porch of the multi million dollar Triple A downtown ballpark marks the beginning of what will be quite a welcoming site for El Pasoans.

The Pacific Coast League officially approved the sale of the San Diego Padres Triple-A baseball franchise to El Paso's MountainStar Sports -- which also officially approves the demolition of El Paso's City Hall to make room for a new baseball stadium.

Shortly after noon, Mayor John Cook announced on ABC-7 that he would not exercise his right to veto Tuesday's city council decision.
