El Paso Spring, Summer 2021 Time-of-Day Watering Schedule Announced
Ahh, spring. When temperatures begin the rapid rise from warm to hot, and what little green we have begins to sprout.
As we collectively begin prepping our gardens and yards, it’s important to remember we live in a desert and you can’t just water whenever you want. There are seasonal watering schedules to observe.
This time of the year marks the beginning of the time-of-day watering schedule change. From April 1 through September 30, 2021, El Paso residents may only water outdoor before 10 a.m. and after 6 p.m. on their designated days.
The conservation measure is designed to reduce water loss that occurs as temperatures rise and evaporation increases, according to Anai Padilla, Water Conservation Manager with El Paso Water.
“Water use spikes in spring and summer months as a result of outdoor watering, so now is good opportunity for customers to consider setting some effective strategies to help conserve water,” said Padilla via press release.

If you have an even-numbered home address, your designated days to water are Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Odd-numbered addresses should limit watering to Wednesdays, Fridays and/or Sundays. All before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m. Residential watering is not allowed on Mondays.
Residential car washing is only allowed if a bucket and/or a hand-held hose equipped with a shut-off nozzle is used.

Violations of the ordinance can result in a fine of $134 for watering at the wrong time to $162 for watering on the wrong day. For more information on how to be water smarter both indoors and outdoors, you are asked to visit the El Paso Water conservation page.
