City Opens 8 Wi-Fi Centers for Students Without Internet Access

The digital divide is a very real issue in our city, and more so now with so many children having to attend school virtually but not having access to internet in their home.

To help bridge the gap, the city of El Paso has begun providing free internet to students and others who need it. Eight rec centers across town have been turned into “Wi-Fi centers” that will be open Monday through Saturday. “There are many challenges for families when it comes to virtual learning. The internet shouldn’t be one of them,” said Cultural Affairs and Recreation Director Ben Fyffe in a city press release.

What You Need to Know

Access is free and available to everyone, not just students. Children younger than 12 years old need a parent or guardian present at all times to use a Wi-Fi center. COVID-19 health and safety guidelines such as face coverings and social distancing will be observed.

Days, Times, and Locations

The Wi-Fi Centers are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturdays at the following locations:
