In a game that saw both teams combine for more than 80-points and was filled with non-stop action, Canutillo defeated Bel Air at Highlander Stadium 53-30 to improve their mark to 2-0 on this young season.  Bel Air blinked and was down 26-7 heading into the second quarter thanks to some nifty running by Eagles' star back Carlos Amato and their stifling defense which has been exceptional early on.

By the time both teams entered the locker room at the half, Canutillo built a 40-20 edge thanks to the incredible ground attack led by RB Amato who scored three touchdowns early in the contest.  The Highlanders made it a 47-27 game with 7:04 remaining in the 3rd quarter and added a field goal to get within 17-points of the Eagles as the quarter winded down, but that was as close they got as Canutillo's offensive barrage proved to be too much to handle en route to the win.

Eagles' running back Carlos Amato finished the contest accumulating 221 yards on just 19 carries, scoring 4 touchdowns and racking up 271 all purpose yards thanks in part to a punt return for a TD in the first half.  In just two weeks Amato has compiled nearly 500 all-purpose yards.  Bel Air QB Adrian Parsons also had an exceptional performance by going 22 of 37 for 248 yards with 3-TD's and one rushing score as well.

Without question, Canutillo is back after a down year last season, and if they keep playing like they have, then the sky could be the limit for this squad.  The Eagles will travel to Mountain View next Friday 9/13, while Bel Air will play at El Paso High.
