Playoffs will get underway next week and Football Friday Night is ready for a busy slate of games tonight in the regular season district finale.

Although there won't be any Football Friday Night tonight, this week is huge for high school football in El Paso.

Isabella Slape, a graduate of Bel Air High School and collegiate softball player, is putting not only El Paso on the map, but the state of Texas as well because she has been selected to represent the United States in a softball match against the Cuban national team and she will be the only Texan player and the first-ever representative from El Paso.

Our kids lost so much in the pandemic shutdowns and lockdowns. It would be fantastic for them to be able to take advantage of opportunities like this one.

Week two of Texas High School football featured some thrillers, a few upsets and some big-time out of town games.

In a game that saw both teams combine for more than 80-points and was filled with non-stop action, Canutillo defeated Bel Air at Highlander Stadium 53-30 to improve their mark to 2-0 on this young season.  Bel Air blinked and was down 26-7 heading into the second quarter thanks to some nifty running by Eagles' star back Carlos Amato and their stifling defense which has been exceptional early on...

Going in to Friday's game at Highlander Stadium, Bel Air had one simple task in order to solidify the final playoff spot in District 2-5A; beat Ysleta on senior night.  Prior to kickoff, fans, players and coaches alike were a bit nervous considering that Bel Air hadn't won a home game all season long...

The Parkland Matadors went in to Highlander Stadium and ruined the homecoming festivities with a 42-20 win over Bel Air.  Parkland's fast pace no huddle offense struck  first when quarterback AJ Briggs found star wide receiver De'quan Henderson to put the Matadors up 7-0 with 9:54 to go in the first quarter...

Going in to their first District 2-5A game of the season at home against an 0-2 Bel Air squad seemed like it would have been an easy W for the Eagles; were they ever mistaken.  The Highlanders came in to Lowenberg Stadium and put on an offensive show to hand Canutillo their first loss of the season, 55-34...
