Back for its 14th season, Chalk The Block returns live and in color on Saturday, October 9 &10, this fall and is currently looking for local artists and vendors to participate in the fun and family-friendly event.

If you are or know of an artist or vendor, you should apply to be part of this year's event because it's the perfect place to get your business or art noticed in front of thousands of people over a single weekend.

The El Paso Museums and Cultural Affairs Department (MCAD) has extended the online application period for local artists and vendors through September 11.

Chalk artists and vendors must submit applications online (no paper, late, or incomplete applications will be accepted).

Since 2007, the free and family-friendly festival has become the largest free public arts festival in the Southwest region, drawing more than 40,000 people annually.

Each year over 200 artists and vendors converge to bring chalk art to life, including live music and theatrical performances, dance, and interactive art installations.

Art installations in the past have included "The Pool" from New York artist Jen Lewin, where the Arts District lit up with fun and bright circle platforms.

Another memorable interactive installation included an exhibition by artist Yoko Ono’s “Wish Tree.” In 2017, thousands of El Pasoans wrote down their wishes and tied them to trees for three days. As part of the installation, all wishes (over 100 lbs. worth) were removed, boxed, and sent to Iceland, where they got buried at the base of the Imagine Peace Tower. The Peace Tower is lit every year from October 8 (Lennon’s birthday) to December 8 (his death).

Chalk The Block not only brings fun and imagination to life but also gives some of El Paso’s most talented artists a platform to showcase and flex their artistic skills for all to see.
