UTEP is getting ready for another big test Saturday night when they host UT San Antonio at the Sun Bowl Saturday night. The game is the first conference contest for the Miners, who are coming off of their first win of the season, a 42-21 victory over NMSU. The Roadrunners began their season with a big 21-13 win over New Mexico, but losses to Oklahoma State and Arizona have them hungry for a road win. Earlier this week, UTSA head coach Larry Coker and members of the Roadrunners football team met the San Antonio media to discuss the team's trip to El Paso and upcoming game against the Miners. The players are (in order): Left Tackle Cody Harris, Center Nate Leonard, Quarterback Eric Soza, and Wide Receiver Kam Jones.

It's hard to believe that UTSA has only been playing college football for two years. Since the formation of a football program was approved by the UT System Board of Regents in Dec. 2008, the Roadrunners have developed a strong reputation as an up-and-coming college football program. They drew nearly 41,000 fans at the Alamodome against Oklahoma State and were very complimentary towards the Miners. You can bet that Saturday night is the start of a great new rivalry between these two Texas schools.
