The Fighting Irish returned to the top spot in in the AP women's basketball poll Monday, barely edging second-ranked Louisville.

UTEP's tremendous postseason run in the WNIT came to an end in the Elite 8 on Monday night in front of 9,055 fans as Oregon defeated the Miners 71-67.  Oregon handed the Miners their first loss at home this season, and in doing so advanced to the WNIT final four to face South Dakota...

The Miners continued their magnificent post season run by defeating interstate foe TCU 79-71 on Thursday night at the Don Haskins Center in front of 7,024 fans.  With the victory, UTEP advanced to the Elite 8 of the WNIT, and will face Pac-12 power conference opponent Oregon on Monday evening...

Oregon passed Florida State and moved into second place behind Alabama in the BCS standings. The Ducks jumping the Seminoles was not a surprise. Florida State had a slim lead on the Ducks in the first standings last week. Oregon's convincing 42-14 victory against UCLA gave the Ducks the boost it needed...

It took close to an extra half of play, but the Miners were able to get a crucial triple overtime win against the Oregon Ducks.  UTEP remained poised throughout the contest, and despite being out rebounded, the Miners were able to pull away late in the third OT, defeating an exceptional Oregon team.

Last season was quite a challenge for the UTEP basketball team to say the least.  The squad, which  predominantly consisted of freshmen, finished the season under .500 with a record of 15-17.  UTEP made it to the Quarterfinal round of the C-USA Tournament before losing to Memphis.

The Rose Bowl between #5 Oregon and #10 Wisconsin was expected to be a shootout, and the two teams lived up to the hype in the highest scoring Rose Bowl in history. Oregon running back De’Anthony Thomas had just two carries, but made them count on touchdown runs of 91 and 64 yards and the Ducks scored 10 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to secure a 45-38 victory.
