Yeah, we all know how the New Mexico Bowl ended – with UTEP getting pole-axed by Brigham Young bad enough that some may have remembered some of those UTEP-BYU games in the 1970’s and 80’s.

Off the field, though? Chalk up another solid bowl win by UTEP athletic director Bob Stull, who helped push the Miners into a situation that should make the athletic department some money. If these figures from thewizardofodds.com are correct, when the New Mexico Bowl gets finished paying its promised $750,000, UTEP should come away close to half a million dollars to the good.

It’s the second bowl win for the Miners under Stull, who guided the Miners to the Houston Bowl in Mike Price’s first year. UTEP brought tons of fans along with them, just as they did to Albuquerque last December.

Now, if UTEP could just translate those off-the-field bowl wins into something on the field…
