Game 7 of the 1991 World Series was a turning point in Andy Lee’s life. For better or worse, it was the moment a seven year old Andy Lee became obsessed with sports. Born and raised in El Paso, Andy is the grandson of former major leaguer and UTEP baseball coach Andy Cohen, so it makes perfect sense that a passion for sports runs in the family. After graduating from Coronado High School in 2002, Andy went out west to Cal State Northridge in Los Angeles for two years before returning to Texas to play golf at Division III Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. He graduated with a degree in business in May of 2007, with no intention of using it. After toiling around in Austin, Texas for a year, a chance phone call changed Andy’s career prospects. On a hunch, his mother Marina called Steve Kaplowitz to see if there was any opening at KROD for her son who was passionate about sports but lacked any broadcasting experience or training. As the cliché goes, timing is everything, and Andy was offered a position to replace the departing Quinton Martinez in May of 2008. After working with Steve for four years on SportsTalk, Andy was given the opportunity to host his own show in July 2012. Sports Spin with Andy Lee and Crystal Dominguez airs from 2-4 PM on 600 ESPN El Paso. Andy and Crystal will give their 'spin' on the stories, topics, and issues that affect our community. Andy has also hosted Football Friday Nights with former Franklin coach Tony Grijalva since 2009. In his free time you can find Andy watching sports, playing sports, making friendly ‘wagers’ on sports, or locating obscure Late Night With David Letterman clips from the 1980s on YouTube. He may even post some rare Letterman gems from time to time on the website. Andy is also a six time champion of the LPGA's du Maurier Classic. Drop Andy a line at alee@krod.com. He'll get back to you in a reasonable amount of time.

Sports Spin’s 32 Teams in 32 Days: New England Patriots
The New England Patriots have become the closest thing to a dynasty we've seen in the NFL's salary cap era. They have lost the last two Super Bowls they have played in (both to the Giants), but they have been by far the most consistent team of the last decade (the Colts with Peyton Manning were a close second).

Andy Lee’s Sister Alix Talks About Attending Roger Clemens’ Start for the Sugarland Skeeters
One of the big stories in the sports world this past weekend was Roger Clemens' return to professional baseball. The 50 year old 'rocket' hoped to show he still had some fuel in the tank.
The Dodgers’ New Ownership Group is Getting Los Angeles to ‘Think Blue’ Again
There is a sign in the foothills north of Dodger Stadium that reads 'Think Blue.' It serves as a reminder to Dodgers' fans that their team is a team of great tradition.
Sports Spin’s 32 Teams in 32 Days: Buffalo Bills
The 2011 Buffalo Bills were the darlings of the first two months of the season. A fast 5-2 start had fans in western New York thinking playoffs for the first time since 1999. Seven straight losses in November and December quickly derailed those hopes.
Sports Spin’s 32 Teams in 32 Days: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were a surprise 10-6 team in 2010. With a tougher schedule in 2011, the Bucs regressed to 4-12. Raheem Morris lost his job, and he was replaced by Greg Schiano. Schiano is responsible for one of the best turnarounds in recent college football history with the job he did at Rutgers.
Sports Spin’s 32 Teams in 32 Days: Carolina Panthers
The 2011 Carolina Panthers were the most interesting 6-10 team I've ever seen. There was '1' reason for that. Rookie quarterback Cam Newton lived up to every morsel of hype placed upon him. His 4,051 passing yards were the most ever by a rookie. Newton also ran for 706 yards.
UTEP Makes ESPN’s List of the Top 50 College Basketball Programs of the Past 50 Years
When it comes to sports we love to hate lists. They help us quantify and qualify a vast amount of data and opinion. They also come under much scrutiny because they tend to be subjective.
Sports Spin’s 32 Teams in 32 Days: New Orleans Saints
To say the New Orleans Saints have had a tumultuous off season would be the understatement of a lifetime. The 'bountygate' scandal cost the team a defensive coordinator, a head coach (for a season), and a linebacker (also for a season, possibly half a season).
Sports Spin’s 32 Teams in 32 Days: Atlanta Falcons
In the first 35 years of their existence, the Atlanta Falcons had very marginal success in the NFL. The future seemed bright when the team drafted Michael Vick out of Virginia Tech in 2001. A 2007 dog fighting arrest abruptly ended the Vick era in the ATL.
