Free ‘Supper Program’ Being Offered at 10 YISD Campuses
A total of ten campuses in the Ysleta Independent School District are now providing students in after school programs a free meal.
According to a district news release, the 2021-2022 “supper program” provides no cost meals to students who remain on campus for extracurricular activities such as athletics, band, theater or a club after classes have been dismissed.
Instead of going hungry or opting for chips or cheap fast food, students can drop by the school cafeteria and get a nutritious meal before rehearsal or practice.
The free meals are available on school days at various times depending on the dismissal time at each campus, but generally beginning at around 4 p.m. to kids 18 and younger.
The meals are also available for purchase by adults. The 10 YISD campuses participating are listed below.

Free Breakfast and Lunch the Entire School Year
Additionally, this school year every student in the Ysleta Independent School District can eat breakfast and lunch every school day for free.
Typically, a student’s household must meet income eligibility requirements to qualify for free or reduced-price meals, but this school year the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), which manages the National School Lunch and Breakfast programs, is waiving the prerequisite allowing schools to offer meals to all students at no cost for the entire 2021-22 school year.
