So you are getting ready for another season of fantasy football. You have purchased every magazine at the local bookstore, created accounts on multiple fantasy football sites, and have done hours of research as to how to have the perfect draft.

As you approach, or already have had your draft, have you really taken a look at what type of league format and what that says about you?

Let's take a look at some different types of fantasy football leagues and see how closely they resemble your type of fantasy football character....

STANDARD SNAKE STYLE REDRAFT LEAGUE

You are 13 years old and you really, really like football and you and your baseball/football teammates or school/neighborhood friends really want to play fantasy football. Good for you. I hope you have fun and continue to gain interest and evolve your fantasy football careers.

If you are an adult-- keep reading.

You are the worst of the worst kind of fantasy football player. More than likely you prefer to do the draft online and you let the computer auto draft for you after the fourth round because you didn't get your favorite player, Aaron Rodgers or something similar to that.

The only reason you pay attention at all to in season waiver wire is because your league probably has something silly as a punishment if you get last-- like standing on a street corner in a dress or something similar.

You probably text your commissioner on Friday morning to ask if he can retro-activate your lineup because you "forgot" their was a Thursday night game.

You also fought your league when EVERYONE ELSE wanted to change to PPR-- because the default settings didn't automatically have it.

Also, to let you in on a little secret-- their really is only 3 people in your league of 10 that know what they are doing and those one of those 3 win the league every year. "Listen, here's the thing. If you can't spot the in your first half hour at the table, then you ARE the sucker."

Grow up.

STANDARD DRAFT KEEPER LEAGUE

OK. So you have moved on from the redraft league. You have gotten smarter at the draft. You no longer prefer to let the computer auto draft for you. You know the difference between a "keeper", a "sleeper", and a "lottery pick".

You have also probably helped to encourage your league to up the entry fee to put more skin in the game.

At least you are not ⬆️⬆️⬆️ that guy.

I like where you are headed... baby steps. "Baby Steps, get on a bus. Baby Steps, get on a bus."

AUCTION LEAGUE

Now you are talking my kind of person. You are tired of watching your targeted players go before you in selected rounds because of your position in the snake style, so you evolved.

You know how to strategize and build a team that YOU want. Auctions are for smart people and they should not be online. Never ever, ever.

Instead of watching Marquez Callaway go in too early the 11th Round in a snake style draft to some dumbo who just read about him in a tweet, you know that you can bid him up to maybe $6 and get $13 return on your investment.

Never stop changing. "Stay gold, Ponyboy."

2 Quarterback Leagues

Who touches the ball more consistently than a quarterback?

Now you can do this in any league format. But what this REALLY says about you is that you LOVE football, fantasy football, and scoring.

The desire to watch football all day on a Sunday for fantasy football purposes diminishes when your QB plays on Thursday night-- so adding another QB adds to the fun of scoreboard watching your weekly fantasy football matchup.

"Trent. I'm telling you baby, you always double down on 11."

It can be annoying for draft purposes because the quarterback draft runs for starters and backups start way too early but the benefits of high scoring teams are the payout.

BEST BALL

This is pretty simple:

You like fantasy football
You like to draft fantasy football
You have too many non-fantasy football obligations to do to waiver wires and set lineups for fantasy football
You realize this is your best way to participate in fantasy football

There are plenty of more leagues to go around, what I am writing is... expand yourself and find something new. Stop doing the same repetitive stuff-- it's fantasy for goodness sake. Make fantasy fun.
