Despite the Miners falling to Oregon in the Elite 8 of the WNIT 71-67, the team made El Paso extremely proud. Defense was their key and the motto was "The Payback Tour" in a year where the Miners posted a 29-5 record.

As a producer for UTEP Women's basketball on AM 600 for the past two seasons I can honestly say I witnessed first hand that this team, from top to bottom , from players to trainers, is something El Paso should be excited and grateful to have had. In fact, a certain someone I know was so excited that he decided to celebrate in the same fashion as does Sophomore guard Lulu McKinney. He even shouts her name in the clip.

Although this was a clip from the game against TCU in the Sweet 16, where UTEP won 79-71, he is still remembering the awesome times he had at The Don this season.

Now, let us not take away the great play from Oregon as they overcame an 18-point deficit to eventually beat the Miners. UTEP still had a great season and gave some light to the school and fans this year in the 50th Anniversary for the Texas Western College men's NCAA Championship.

Thank you UTEP for continuing to be resilient and leaving it all on the court. Next year promises to be exciting as well as Keitha Adams has assembled a top notch recruiting class along with many players returning, including the subject of my little cousin Saavion's celebration, Lulu McKinney. Go Miners!
