These 6 Major Stores Will Close For Thanksgiving 2022 In El Paso
Christmas is not too far away, and we may want to start planning accordingly, as a few major retailers have announced that they will not open this year on Thanksgiving Day in El Paso.
Traditionally, Thanksgiving night is when stores would open late into Black Friday to give shoppers significant savings and a head start on their holiday shopping; however, all that changed after the pandemic shut everything down.
In 2020, Walmart set the tone by announcing that it would be closed to give its employees the holiday to enjoy time with their families after the pandemic. Soon after, dozens of other retail giants like Target, Best Buy, Costco, and Home Depot announced that they would follow suit and close on Thanksgiving Day.
Soon after, stores like Target received an overwhelmingly positive response from its closure that they've decided to do it again in 2021 and plan to do the same this year.
The Black Friday tradition has also changed, as most retailers did not host their usual early morning one-day events. Instead, they began offering daily specials and Black Friday deals in early November, culminating with more sales day-of, in-store, and online to avoid overcrowding store capacity.
Stores that plan to close this year on Thanksgiving Day in El Paso include:
- Target
- Walmart
- Best Buy
- Kohl's
- Costco
- Sam's Club
It may also come as no surprise if other stores, such as Home Depot, Macy's, and others, may also close on Thanksgiving Day. To be sure, check store hours and curbside services before visiting each store this year, and don't forget to check online specials; sometimes, those deals are better than in-store offers.
