This Is The Most Infuriating Thing El Paso Drivers Do
What is the most infuriating thing El Paso drivers do?
As often as we're all on the road, it's a safe assumption someone behind the wheel has ticked you off.
I’m out there every day and most days at least one ignorant or inconsiderate fool has made me want to punch a baby. Of course, I never would, I mean, babies are adorable and all that, but that’s how infuriated driving on the mean streets of El Paso can make me feel.
When we asked our radio listeners what the most infuriating thing El Paso drivers do the responses were varied and the offenses numerous.
When the light turns green and they sit there like waiting for a damn invitation to go
Exiting the freeway from the middle lane.
Blocking the intersection
When making a turn and they weave to opposite side before turn like if they were driving an 18-wheeler.
When they use their signals to turn right at the last minute…or don’t use them at all…and when they forget to turn off their signal lights on the street and you have to wait or give them room to switch lane…and they don’t switch lane.
When there's two lanes to turn and they don't know which is their proper lane and end up in yours. You honk and tell em off and they look at you like they didn't do anything wrong!
#1 Most Infuriating
Most agreed that by far and away the most infuriating thing El Paso drivers do is trying to get cuts where a lane is closing.
When they see a sign that says ‘Left Lane closed ahead’ BUT STILL USE THE LEFT LANE AND EXPECT ME TO LET THEM IN EVEN THOUGH THEY KNEW THE LANE WAS CLOSING
Several people made a case for it being the correct way to merge referencing something called ‘zipper merging’. Zipper Merging as described by the New York Times is when “drivers use both lanes until just before one ends, then merge like the teeth of a zipper coming together: one from this side, one from that side.”
Traffic experts agree that’s the right way to do it. But the right way doesn’t mean its our way.
