The 2015 Taste of El Paso is just three days away, and many people are counting down the hours and minutes before they experience one of the best events of the year. Recently, my wife and I continued our tour through some of the best participating restaurants at this year's Taste, and we had the opportunity to enjoy some incredible food at Pelican's Steak and Seafood West. Make your plans now for The Taste of El Paso, this Thursday, Nov. 12 from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the El Paso Convention Center.

Pelican's is an institution in El Paso ever since they first opened their doors more than 30 years ago. They pride themselves on only the finest seafood, delivered twice weekly to their two locally owned and operated restaurants to ensure its freshness. In addition, their USDA choice Angus Beef is aged in-house which helps give it the tenderness that their patrons expect. I have never been disappointed by their teriyaki center cut top sirloin, and their seared yellow-fin ahi tuna is among my favorite entrees anywhere.

When we arrived at Pelican's West, the chef had prepared their pecan-crusted salmon for us. The maple bourbon glaze and candied pecans gave the salmon fillet a delicious sweet taste while being cooked to perfection. The pecan-crusted salmon is their main feature for this Thursday night's Taste of El Paso. Diners will also enjoy their clam chowder, which is another favorite at Pelican's. Here are some pictures to get your appetite ready for El Paso's culinary extravaganza on Nov. 12.
