Spec’s has expanded to the Kern area as a new neighborhood store has opened up in the old CVS location off Mesa.

The short-lived CVS on Mesa near UTEP has been converted to Spec’s liquor, beer, and wine store.

The family-owned chain retailer carries a vast selection of wine, liquor & beer, including deli counters in select stores, is now open in the Kern area.

Speculation and rumors have been put to rest as to what business would ultimately open up in place of the defunct CVS store. El Pasoans were hoping to see a new market like Sprouts or Whole Foods open up since the only grocery store in the area is a single Albertson’s. Others had higher hopes of welcoming an H.E.B., Trader Joe’s, or even a neighborhood Walmart to the area.

Well, surprise. It’s neither. It’s a Spec’s store.

If you've never visited a Spec’s store, then you're in for a sweet surprise because they are full of great finds, including hard-to-find gourmet items, cigars, caviar, imported cheeses, finer foods, and so many more delectable treats.

Plus, due to the ongoing pandemic, Spec’s is offering curbside, pick-up, and delivery in select stores and areas.

Next time you’re in the area, stop by Spec’s and pick up your favorite spirits for the upcoming holidays while welcoming them to the neighborhood.
