The first tournament of its kind in El Paso is this Friday through Sunday.

You've probably seen similar shooting contests on tv or in movies. Someone, armed with a shotgun, yells "pull". Then a clay target is launched across the sky and ... assuming the person has a good eye ... almost immediately blown to bits. If you haven't, this weekend you'll be able to not only witness a live competition but, enter it and maybe even win a prize!

Taking things a step farther is "Sporting Clays". Which, according to El Paso Skeet & Trap Club marketing manager Tess Clark, is like "golf with a shotgun".  Sort of what I described above but, the targets fly from all sorts of weird angles and come in several different sizes. No two course are alike so, participants travel all over trying out different ones. Now, El Paso is on the map course and competition-wise!!

Anyone can participate if they're registered, or get registered, with NSCA and kids who are members of any 4-H club could win scholarships!! For more info, contact Tess at (915) 526-8624, visit the clubs Facebook page or, visit their website.
