Visitors to one of the larger parks in Northeast El Paso will soon have some new amenities to enjoy while they are there.

Joey Barraza and Vino Memorial Park is located at 11270 McCombs in far Northeast El Paso, not too far away from the intersection of  McCombs and US - 54. East of Cooperstown and north of Northtowne Village. (You can see a map here)

The park already has several athletic fields and a skate park and Saturday, the City of El Paso's Park and Recreation Department will officially show off the new things that the park will have.

According to our news partners at KVIA, the new additions to Joey Barraza and Vino Memorial Park will include a dog park, some flat fields and a new, "all amenities" playground.

The park was named after a Border Patrol Agent who died in 2016. According to KVIA, Jose “Joey” Barraza died in a crash involving an 18-wheeler and his truck. The 29-year-old was assigned to the Sierra Blanca station of the Border Patrol’s Big Bend Sector. - KVIA

The "Vino" part of the parks name is in honor of his canine partner, Vino, who was also injured in the crash. Vino survived the crash with minor injuries and eventually got back on the job with the Border Patrol. (KVIA)
Other, larger, parks in the Northeast part of El Paso include Veterans Park on Salem, Nations Tobin Park on Railroad and Sue Young Park on Diana.

There will be booths, a yoga session and the event will absolutely be pet friendly.
