Positive Case at OLLU Leads to UTEP Men’s Hoops Cancelation

Rodney Terry and the Miners (4-2) won't have another tune-up game to experience before they tip-off Conference USA play on Friday, Jan. 1.

Their matchup against Our Lady of the Lake (NAIA) set for Monday, Dec. 28, was canceled late on Sunday due to a positive COVID-19 case and subsequent contact tracing within the OLLU program. 

 

UTEP is coming off two consecutive wins after upsetting Arizona State (76-63) and rolling over NAIA Benedictine Mesa (79-59). Southern Miss (3-3), on the other hand, gained some momentum following back-to-back wins against Lamar (66-63) and Lousiana Monroe (60-47). They finish non-conference play on Monday as they host Loyola.

The teams will begin conference play on Friday with a tip-off set for 6 p.m. MT Their second contest is slated for 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+ and it will be heard on 600 ESPN El Paso.
