As someone who grew up in the Northeast side of El Paso, I've heard all comments people make about it. How it's dangerous, how it's full of gang members; and how it is notorious for the so-called "Devil's Triangle".

If you are unaware of what the Devil's Triangle is, it was an area that in the early '90's had a high crime rate; the area was bordered by Dyer Street, Hondo Pass Avenue and the Patriot Freeway, creating a triangle.

Notice how now it's called the "Angel's Triangle"? That's because in the past 20 years, the area has definitely improved! I grew up in the area in the 90's and yes, it was kind of shady, but today it's not as bad as you would think.

These days, however, it seems like the commotion isn't coming from the Northeast, or the Angel's Triangle, it seems to be coming from the East side!

The East side is expanding; if you haven't been to the far East Side in years, you wouldn't even recognize it today! Recently, there's been an uptick in crime in the area; you'll notice this especially if you follow FitFam, that some are beginning to ask: "is this the new Devil's Triangle?" Over on Twitter, there seems to be some who agree.

If you can't tell what area that is, here's a little map.

It looks like this new Devil's Triangle is bordered by Loop 375, Montana and Zaragoza. As you can see, the neighborhoods in the area are Eastview, Sun Ridge North, El Dorado East and Tierra Rica.

This is just one of the areas that is ever expanding on the east side, and with many moving to the area there's bound to be an increase in crime.

Do you agree that this should be called the new Devil's Triangle? I can understand if it upsets people, I used to live by the OG Devil's Triangle, the stereotype isn't great. But if the OG Devil's Triangle has taught us anything it's that it's not too late to change!
