The stage was set for a battle of 4-2 teams at the SAC on Friday night.  The winner, would be in the driver's seat for a potential District 1-6A crown by starting 2-0.  It would be the Rams who would go on to beat Pebble Hills 49-36 in a thrilling back-and-forth affair.  The Spartans felt the wrath of the mighty Rams' high-flying offense as they were down 14-0 at the end of the first quarter thanks to scores by Chris Ramos and Aaron "Mo" Morales.

Both teams would spend the remainder of the half trading scores as Montwood took a 21-14 lead into halftime.  Pebble Hills tied the contest up to start the third quarter as WR/RB Jalen Partida took the opening kickoff 85 yards to the house.  After being nodded up at 21-21 both sides scored on consecutive possessions to remain tied at 28-28 with 6:05 let in the quarter.

The Rams took a 36-28 lead into the fourth quarter as QB Sebastian Galvan found WR Yamil Oaxaca for a 9-yard score.  The Spartans would pull even with the Rams again at 36-36 with 9:16 left in the game as QB Sebastian Ochoa scored on a 2-yard keeper.  It appeared that we were in for a thrilling finish and potentially overtime until Pebble Hills quarterback Ochoa fumbled the ball at the Montwood 25 with 7:38 left.

The Rams took full advantage of the turnover as Galvan threw a stunning 18-yard TD pass to Diego Reyes with 5:46 left.  Montwood's defense stepped up and stopped the Spartans on their next possession.  The Rams then put the exclamation point on the game when Galvan found old reliable Yamil Oaxaca for a 30-yard touchdown, his third of the game, to put the cherry on top and secure the win.

The Rams moved to 5-2, 2-0 in District 1-6A and will host Franklin next Thursday night.  Pebble Hills is now 4-3, 1-1 in 1-6A, and will play at Americas next Friday night.
