Texas Drivers Advised To Avoid These Very Popular Places
Millions of Texas drivers were recently warned about using a certain, super common, time saving service.
The warning was issued as part of an "Ozone Action Day" declared by the TCEQ for Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Galveston and Brazoria.
"Ozone Action Days" could be declared anywhere in Texas at any time if the proper conditions develop. The most common time of year for these proclamations is March - November.
Drive through's are the places millions of Texas drivers are being advised to avoid during "Ozone Action Days" due to, obviously, the buildup of exhaust fumes created by multiple cars lined up and idling. Not a very healthy situation in general, especially on days when weather conditions are most likely to produce high levels of ozone.
Several "Ozone Action Days" have already been declared in Texas. Ozone is an unsafe pollutant created by the right mix of temperature, high heat and sunlight; aka "smog".
Exposure to unhealthy levels of ozone can lead to symptoms like breathing difficulties, a sore or scratchy throat, and coughing. It can also worsen existing chronic lung conditions.
"Some of these effects have been observed even in healthy individuals, but they can be more severe in people with lung diseases such as asthma," the EPA website said. "These effects may result in increased school absences, medication use, doctor and emergency room visits, and hospital admissions." - Newsweek
The effects of ozone exposure include headaches, a heavy feeling in the chest and fluid in the lungs. Overexposure can also be fatal.
