EPISD Has New Graduation Dates For 2020 High School Seniors

The coronavirus outbreak not only closed down businesses, it caused the closure of the nation's school districts. As students were trying to figure out how to do distance learning from home, a lot of high school seniors were mourning the cancellation of their high school graduations. The El Paso Independent School District is working on brightening up the odd end of the school year for it's seniors. The district announced that they will hold graduation ceremonies for the 2019-2020 graduating senior class in their district's high schools.

EPISD Superintendent Juan Cabrera said, “EPISD remains committed to celebrating the accomplishments of the Class of 2020.” Cabrera also said the new proposed dates will give El Pasoans the chance to pull together behind the district's seniors and flatten the coronavirus infection curve and help them get the opportunity to walk the stage.

The proposed dates for the graduation ceremonies are contingent upon the City of El Paso lifting its ban on large gatherings.

The new schedule of graduations is as follows:

Monday, June 29
El Paso High School, 7 p.m. at Jones Stadium.

Tuesday, June 30
College, Career & Technology Academy, 2 p.m. at Don Haskins Center
Franklin High School, 6 p.m. at Don Haskins Center

Wednesday, July 1
Burges High School, 9 a.m. at Don Haskins Center
Transmountain Early College High School, 2 p.m. at Don Haskins Center
Andress High School, 6 p.m. at Don Haskins Center

Thursday, July 2
Jefferson/Silva High School, 9 a.m. at Don Haskins Center
Coronado High School, 2 p.m. at Don Haskins Center
Bowie High School, 6 p.m. at Don Haskins Center

Friday, July 3
Irvin High School, 9 a.m. at Don Haskins Center
Chapin High School, 2 p.m. at Don Haskins Center
Austin High School, 6 p.m. at Don Haskins Center
