Ruli's International Kitchen is a local dining spot you know from "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" that was damaged during the intense rain this week.

Locally-owned Ruli's International Kitchen is one of El Paso's best spots to go and enjoy great food with the Chuco flair the Borderland region is known for. Ruli's made headlines when the restaurant was featured on the Food Network's show "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dive," showing off the signature dishes like the Oxtail Tostadas and Pasta Chihuahua.

Ruli's International Kitchen is known for its favorite dishes like my personal favorites the Al Pastor pizza and the Mediterranean salad but they also do weekly features using fresh, local ingredients. While there are plenty of El Pasoans that were dealing with rising floodwaters and pouring rain, the restaurant was hit hard by the summer storm.

According to a video on their Facebook page, the rains leaked into the restaurant's kitchen, and streams of water fell all over the equipment and the floor. In the video, you see the damage started during dining hours and the restaurant was forced to close to deal with the issues.

I spoke with Chef Ruli, owner of Ruli's International Kitchen and he told me the restaurant needs to close till the restaurant until the rain stops. After that, it will be 3-4 days of repairs before the restaurant can reopen.
