The UTEP Women's Basketball team lost their fifth straight game this afternoon, by a final score of 74-53 on the road at Middle Tennessee State. The Miners played their second straight game without senior Cameasha Turner, who suffered a concussion against Marshall last Saturday. UTEP (8-10, 3-6 C-USA) was led by Sparkle Taylor (14 points, 10 rebounds), Daeshianna McCants (career-high 13 points) and Irene Gari (12 points) who each scored in double figures, but it was not enough to slow down the Blue Raiders (14-5, 8-1 C-USA).

“First off Middles Tennessee is a very good basketball team with a good one-two punch,” UTEP head coach Keitha Adams said after the game. “We had a good run there the last few minutes of the half to get within single digits. But we didn’t have enough offense to match their offensive firepower. We closed it out and kept competing. We aren’t where we want to be right now and I don’t like it but we have to keep working.”
