When UTEP signed Paul Thomas to a national letter of intent last fall, the Miners knew they were getting a good one. The 6-8 forward was rated as a four-star prospect and ESPN ranked him as the 15th best player in the state of Texas. Thomas, who starred for Summer Creek High School in Humble, Texas helped lead the Bulldogs to a 22-11 record this season. He was also selected to play in both the Houston Area Basketball Coaches All-Star Game and the Texas versus Louisiana All Star Game. When Thomas committed to play with the Miners last fall, he became the first Summer Creek player ever to sign a Division 1 basketball scholarship. 600 ESPN El Paso interviewed Thomas earlier today to talk about his love for basketball, why he wears #41, his excitement to be a UTEP Miner, and which team he is rooting for in the NBA Playoffs.
