The NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Could Return to El Paso
If basketball fans are old enough to remember El Paso hosting a first round regional in the 1981 NCAA Tournament, an effort is under way to bring March Madness back to the Haskins Center. Preliminary discussions are under way with the NCAA to host a first round regional in El Paso for the 2014 or 2015 Men’s Basketball Tournaments. In recent years, the NCAA has reduced the seating capacity requirements for hosting the games, and word is El Paso has an excellent chance at getting the tournament to come back to the Haskins Center. The bidding process could take 3-6 months, but an announcement could come before the end of the year.
