It was a humbling experience to visit a place where the locals were rather friendly, emphasize education, have a hard work ethic, and are fans of various sports.

Kobe Bryant’s Mask Fetches $67,100 in eBay Auction
One of the downsides to being rich is that the rich are expected to bid exorbitant amounts on mostly worthless items in charity auctions. I know they can later write off the expense, and the money goes to a worthy cause, but who really wants to drop $100,000 on a pair of slippers once worn by Marilyn Monroe?
I guess money is no object to some people who really want to own a piece of memorabilia, but I think the charity angle drives up the prices more than fandom
