This offseason, Baseball America named Matt Wisler the #2 Minor League prospect in the San Diego Padres system. Here's what you need to know about Wisler: he's a 6-3, 195 pound right-handed starting pitcher with a fastball that can reach 95 miles per hour. He has already excelled through three levels of pro baseball including rookie ball, A, and AA in his three seasons with the Padres organization.

Wisler might not break camp with San Diego's new Triple-A team, because the Padres have one of the deepest pitching staffs in all of Minor League baseball. However, it will not take long for the Ohio native to move up from San Antonio to El Paso. I met Wisler for the first time last week when I visited the Padres' Spring Training facility in Peoria, Arizona. One thing I learned about the young fireballer was that he once owned a Chihuahua.
