The North Carolina Tarheels will return to El Paso for the first time since 1994 when they play the Stanford Cardinal in the 83rd Hyundai Sun Bowl on Friday, December 30th.

For Stanford, their last trip to El Paso was in 2009 when then Cardinal head coach Jim Harbaugh lost a memorable game to Oklahoma 30-27. Stanford 9-3 and ranked 18th in the latest CFP Poll is led by junior running back Christian McCaffery, who has 1,603 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns this season.

North Carolina has the 46th ranked defense in the nation and has wins over Florida State, Miami, and Pitt this season. El Pasoans will also get top see Mitch Trubisky, the top rated quarterback on Mel Kiper Jr's NFL Draft board. This season, Trubisky completed nearly 70 percent of his passes for 3,468 yards, 28 touchdowns, and just 4 interceptions.
