I was saddened this morning when I learned that Mike Wallace had died at the age of 93. I had never met the man, but have always been a big fan of his work on 60 Minutes and CBS News. Wallace had a reporting style that made him one of the most feared men in television interviewing. Simply put, Wallace took no BS from anyone and was never afraid to ask the tough questions. Morley Safer, his 60 Minutes cohort since the show's early days in 1970, wrote a great tribute to his friend and colleague. CBS did a nice retrospective on Wallace's career on their web site. It's hard to believe that in the last six months, we have lost Andy Rooney and Mike Wallace. In today's world of online (on demand) journalism, it will be hard to find young reporters or commentators that will leave their mark on their profession the way Rooney and Wallace did.
