Running against around 25,000 other runners in the 2015 San Francisco Marathon, local favorite Dylan Villescas took fourth place!

Villescas attended Mayfield High School in Las Cruces but, currently lives in Alamogordo. There, he teaches social studies and coaches the track and field team at Chaparral Middle School. He won this year's El Paso Marathon, which is a Boston Marathon qualifier, with a time of around 2:33.

Dylan told the Las Cruces Sun News:

"It was a really cool race and the largest I've ever participated in," Villescas said. "There was 25,000 runners. To finish in the Top 10 in one of those is pretty exciting. They made it an Olympics trials qualifier for the first time and I figured there would be some good talent there. This is the first time post collegiate that I've been allowed to compete against some elite athletes. It was really good to test your mettle against some really fast guys."

The San Fransisco Marathon is also a Boston marathon qualifier and Dylan hopes to run in the Boston Marathon itself next year.
